Steve Andersen Receives UNIFI Companies Lester A. Rosen Humanitarian and Achievement Award
In addition to Andersen’s service recognition to the insurance and financial services industry, his local community service endeavors include founder of the University of Walleye. This university has helped fund 10,000 children over the last ten years to learn to fish, and also provided them with a tackle box, reel and pole. In addition, two of the ten annual statewide clinics are held for special needs children through the Nebraska Walleye Association. Andersen also is involved with Dreams Unlimited, a local Lincoln organization. The organization’s mission is to provide children with disabilities the opportunity for fun and challenge in areas they may never have thought possible. Dreams Unlimited coordinates and funds recreation opportunities for these children and their families. Since 1999, Dreams Unlimited, which was founded by four pediatric therapists, has partnered with the National Sports Center for the Disabled and other local organizations to provide adapted recreation experiences.
