The following officer elections were effective May 1, 2008.

Robert Frank, M.D., was elected vice president and medical director for Union Central Life, Ameritas Life and Acacia Life. Dr. Frank works with the life and disability underwriters in making individual case decisions about insurability and overall risk. He also oversees a comprehensive medical education program for company underwriters and assists the claim adjudicators regarding individual claims disability cases.

Dr. Frank joined The Union Central Life Insurance Company in January 2003 as the medical director.

He graduated from Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree. He attended medical school at Ohio State, graduating with his M.D. degree in 1972. He is board certified in both internal medicine and insurance medicine.

Dr. Frank is an active member of the American Academy of Insurance Medicine and Midwestern Medical Director’s Association.

Ashok Pradhan, CLU, ChFC, was elected second vice president – agency distribution. His responsibilities include recruiting and developing general agents and their agencies, assisting them in hiring high-level commission producers and managing his assigned agencies so they are profitable.

Pradhan joined Union Central in February of this year as field sales vice president.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Bombay, India. He came to the United States in 1970 and is a U.S. citizen.

Pradhan is a member of NAIFA (National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors) and GAMA (General Agents and Managers Association).

Bob Sumrall, CLU, ChFC, was elected second vice president – agency distribution. He is responsible for assisting existing contracted general agency offices to increase premium and recruiting new agency distribution offices in the company’s western region.

Bringing 24 years of life insurance experience, Sumrall joined Union Central in February 2008.

He earned his Associate in Science degree in pre-medical science from Cypress College, Cypress, Cal.; Bachelor of Science degree in professional accounting from California State University, Long Beach; and is pursuing a juris doctorate degree from Western State University College of Law, Fullerton, Cal. Sumrall currently is attending The American College in Bryn Mawr, Pa., in pursuit of a Master of Science degree in financial services.

Sumrall is an active member with AALU (Association for Advanced Underwriting), NAIFA and GAMA.
