May 9, 2008//Lincoln, Neb.// At the UNIFI Mutual Holding Company (UNIFI Companies) annual members meeting held May 5, President and CEO John Jacobs, CLU, announced the election of JoAnn M. Martin and Gary “Doc” T. Huffman to serve on the Board of Directors.

JoAnn Martin, CPA, FLMI, is the executive vice president and chief financial officer of UNIFI Companies, president and CEO of Ameritas Life Insurance Corp. (ALIC), and a board member of ALIC. She joined Ameritas in 1983, has held various officer positions over the years and serves on many of UNIFI Companies’ subsidiary boards of directors. Active in the industry and community, Martin serves on many boards of directors, including the Federal Reserve Board of Kansas City – Omaha Branch, Nebraska Wesleyan Board of Governors, St. Elizabeth Community Health Center Board of Directors, and as chair of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce.

Doc Huffman, CLU, ChFC, is the executive vice president – individual and retirement plans businesses of UNIFI Companies, president and CEO, and a board member of The Union Central Life Insurance Company. Since joining Union Central in 1999, he has served in various officer positions. Huffman is involved in the industry and community service, serving on the Life Insurance Marketing Research Association (LIMRA) Board of Directors and Executive Committee, Cincinnati Association Insurance and Financial Advisors, American Society of Chartered Life Underwriters, and the Boy Scouts of America Dan Beard Council’s marketing committee.

The Board of Directors reelected the following board members for an additional three-year term: James M. Anderson, president and CEO of Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati, Ohio; Lawrence J. Arth, chairman of UNIFI Companies, Ameritas Holding Company and Ameritas Life Insurance Corp., Lincoln, Neb.; Bert A. Getz, chairman of Globe Corporation, Scottsdale, Ariz.; John H. Jacobs, president and CEO of UNIFI Companies and Ameritas Holding Company, Lincoln, Neb., and chairman of The Union Central Life Insurance Company, Cincinnati, Ohio; Dudley S. Taft, president of Taft Broadcasting Company, Cincinnati, Ohio; Winston J. Wade, retired CEO of MediaOne Malaysia, Scottsdale, Ariz.; and Robert M. Willis, president and chief operating officer of McCarran Ferguson Captive Management Co., Inc., Washington, D.C.
